We deployed a significant upgrade to the GnosisDAO’s governance structure, allowing GNO, LGNO, and MGNO on Mainnet and Gnosis Chain to participate in voting.
What problem are we or other users are facing?
What is the status quo and why does that not work?
Why does the problem matter?
Why is this the right time to address this problem?
Right now, only addresses holding GNO tokens on mainnet Ethereum have vote weight in the GnosisDAO. This means anyone using GNO in any kind of DeFi or staking, or holding it on a network other than mainnet (Gnosis Chain, for example), is excluded from voting in the GnosisDAO. Which provides a pretty strong conflict of incentives.
The GnosisDAO is also using an outdated version of the Reality mod and should be upgraded to make use of the newer version, which has improved safety features.
What solution do you propose?
Include breadboards and/or fat-marker sketches
Create a new Snapshot strategy that accounts for all most of the places that the GnosisDAO might want to encourage its members to hold and/or use GNO.
We will need to utilize the multichain snapshot strategy for this.
